Blue Rug Damage

In the Northern Michigan climate. Along our house we have Blue Rug groundcover approximately 30 feet long and 15 feet wide. As the snow melted in late March, we discovered a meadow vole had survived the winter by feasting on our Blue Rug. There are many dinner plate sized areas of no folage where this pest ate the folage and apparently also the bark along the plant stems. We got some of the meadow voles with mice traps. My question is how durable a plant is Blue Rug. Can it recover or should I just pull up all the plants and start over?
