English ivy is an aggressive and invasive plant for many, but it sounds like that's not the case for you. Remove the oak leaves, cut back any really obnoxious brown, dead stems, and it may recover just fine without further assistance. I wouldn't use fertilizer at this point. Good luck!

We just cut back our ivy where it was damaged and died. We love it and want it to grow back. It's about a 10' x 10' area. How long does it take to cover again?

We put down plants, mulch and bordered the area in rocks instead of keeping it bare. Will this keep the ivy from growing back again?

Are there roots under the ground where we removed it that will grow up or will grow down from the upper area and take hold of the ground?
