Groundcover for cottage bed to prevent weeds

I'm looking for a ground cover that won't strangle out my perennials in a full sun bed. Maybe something that can occasionally be walked on. My three favorites that I have are Mother of Thyme, Dancing Dark Clover, and Snow in Summer. Not sure if any of those three would work in this situation. I primarily want to edge the beds and to fill it out a bit and help prevent weeds. Thanks!

I like two very low growing plants. Mazus repens and Laurentia fluviatilis. I do not think they would be a problem. Both are evergreen in my zone but may not thrive in yours. Lirope, including the one only about 3 inches tall, must be weed excluding, and seem evergreen.
And what about Phlox sublata?

Laurentia won't work in my zone, which is too bad.

Phlox is too slow a spreader for me.

I like the look of Creeping Mazus. I will have to look into it a bit more. I don't think it is common around here. Problems with it invading your lawn?
