Wet feet because of the ponds overflowing? See if you can find Potentilla Fruticosa, native to bogs, they have yellow, white, pink & orange blooms, yellow being the hardiest but might get up to 24".

bullthistle, thank you..I just was looking that up, and most sites say it doesnt like wet feet, then some say it does, lol. It's too tall for what I need though. I know I am being extemely picky, but I have a little frog log downspout thing my son bought me, to use as the exchange for water to go from the smaller pond to the bigger pond. I dont want that log getting completely covered up. Just want something to grow around the sides.
I am looking more for something like creeping phlox. If that could stand wet feet it would be perfect. A nice thick short matted type.

Creeping Jenny "Lysimachia Nummularia". But it only gets 2-3" tall. The gold leafed(Aurea)is prettier with tiny white flowers.

How about European ginger? 6" tall, glossy glossy round green leaves, very attractive, and quite hardy
