Blood Grass....or Nothing???

For those of you who are experienced growing Japanese blood grass....what can I expect or how do I follow up in the care of this grass now that all the new green growth has turned brown??? I'm just sick over it. Even if it begins to green up below the brown, what do I do with the brown portion??? I have two large sweeps of this blood grass that I usually burn off every spring. So......do I burn it off again? or take a weed wacker to it? Help???

I would cut it to the ground. You could use a weedwhacker, but I'd use shears.

What makes it turn brown? Mine comes up greeen, then the tips turn red and it stays that way all summer until late fall. It is in my perennial bed where it gets regular water.

It turned brown because it got 'burned' by the late freeze. We took the weedeater to it.....it's looking great now. My display is normally beautiful....people stop and ask me all the time what that 'red stuff' is out by my drive way.
