Hi Kris,
I love Portulaca, and their ability to reseed every year. I'll just list some of my observations, and see if this will help. Portulaca love it sunny and dry. They will rot in moist soils.

I have found most of the time when people told me about a leaf problem, they or someone else was spraying a herbicide in the area. Herbicides have a tendency to drift in the slightest wind, and will cause plant death. They can drift from 50-100 feet away.

Always try using an organic pesticide if your positive you might have and insect problem. Here is a link of my organics. The Chile Pepper Wax spray and the Neem Oil are excellent deterents.

No I didnt use herbicides! I do water portulaca, and put them in potting mix or ground soil ...not sandy soil. Is that why?

I plant very small portulaca plants in a container a couple weeks ago and I can tell they're growing...but today I just noticed that the the tips of some of the stems are wilted a little, just barely noticeable.
I'm in the hot Phoenix but I wonder if I'm watering them too much.
