2 possibilities:

1. Too much nitrogen added to their soil.

2. It`s still just the 1st week of June, and they just haven`t produced any flowers yet. Patience, young Jedi...

I didn't fertilize at all and of course down here in sunny So. Fla the ground is mostly sand. We've had rain for the past five days and the temps go into the 90s.

I read that when the vine reaching around ten feet, that it should be cut. Is that true whether or not there are any flowers.

This is my first gourd attempt and I don't want to make any mistakes :)

Yes, that's correct, about 8-10 feet. The main vine tends to produce mostly male flowers. When you nip off the tip, it gives the plant the message to start producing lateral (side) branches, which produce mostly female flowers. After that, just feed and water and let 'em go!

In sandy soil, you'll probably need to feed more than someone with loamy soil would, as the soil doesn't hold nutrients all that well.

(Funny: when I was growing gourds in Las Vegas, they really took off in the heat, and my Mom complained that they were trying to get into her bedroom window!)
