Same here. Signs of life, but well behind most other warm season grasses. It was the same last year, and all of a sudden, they popped.

A late start is typical for all fountain grasses. Same is true for Hardy Pampas Grass (Erianthus ravennae/Saccharum ravennae).
Mine Pennisetums are just starting to show green leaves and that is REALLY early for them in Zone5 often they don't get going until late May.
I am afraid that this year they will get frost burn before the weather warms up for 'real'.

Yep, I have 5 Karley Rose Pennisetum and every yr. I think they are dead. They are just now showing some signs of life.

Same here -- my Villosum has zero sign of growth and I keep checking it..others showing a tiny bit.

Mine are slow too. However, they reward me with such a long season of bloom and are nice sizes and well behaved so I don't mind, too much.....
