Lamium getting a little thuggish

Each year about this time I have to rip out lots of lamium that is completely growing over hostas and daylilies. But ---- I absolutely love the way it mulches my garden!

I am thinking about planting it around the tall bearded iris to keep the area weed free after the iris bloom. Has anyone used lamium around iris?
