will ajuga harm my shrubs?

I planted ajuga to save me from my weeding chores. so far it has worked well and it has made a lovely groundcover. I have the kind that has light verigated leaves and purple flowers.

The ajuga is in a bed with 5 year old hydrangea, arborvite, and some other shrubs. There is also a section of the bed with large sedum and a few succulent ground covers. Do I need to keep the ajuga away from the base of the shrubs and succulents or can I just let it run wild throughout?

FYI the bed is contained with no access to my lawn, so I am not worried about it taking over my yard.
