Yes... totally normal. And quite healthy-looking if you ask me. I have a Sucrine du Berry Buttenut whose leaves look much like these. Waltham Butternut doesn't seem to do it though.

tcstoehr, thanks for the response. Any idea what percentage of c. moschata have leaves like this, and what percentage have straight green leaves?

I am jealous! I love leaves like that. They are leaves that you see in C. moschata, but I've grown butternut squash with 'normal' leaves too. I have some Tromboncino squash growing this year with leaves not quite as nice as those. Couldn't give you a percentage but it isn't by any means rare in C. moschata

Concur. It also occurs in C. pepo usally among zuchinni varieties.

My Musquee de Provence has leaves like that! It's a c.moschata too, but pumpkin shaped.
