I am looking for a groundcover for under a large Norway Maple. This groundcover would need to stand up to a dog and preferably does not die back in the winter (trying to prevent a mud pit which dogs love to run in!!). I tried growing grass but this was unsuccessful, so I'm really in need of ideas.
