groundcover for shade, and walking on in FL

Tall order, huh?

I want a groundcover for an area about 12 x 15, a little nook with chairs and maybe a small table. Dappled shade, hot days nonetheless. I'd like something very short, and tough, as it will be walked on.

Any ideas?
