Well first the color yellow is not what attracts the SVB, I have had many squash plants killed off by SVB long before they ever flowered. Second I have heard in many locations that marigolds are a companion plant for squash (I often have marigolds with my squash). Supposedly the marigolds help repel bugs and nematodes. Though honestly I haven't noticed any difference with or without marigolds (but I never have problems with bugs or nematodes either). In any case marigolds don't attract the SVB. Leave them in I am sure they look nice.

the marigolds that are good for your gardens are"pot marigolds".
not so much the regular kind.
both have their merits.
but I think It's calendula AKA. pot marigolds that have the best of what you want.
seeds have been found in pharroh's tombs.
or so I've heard.

Also try fever few.
spreads like crazy by seeds but keeps flea beetles away here.

It has not been established that marigold repel insects.
I have seen my marigolds eaten by insects. It is not the color of flower, but the the smell and tast that is supposed to repell the insects. As I said, it is a myth , to me. There are a lot of herbs and even WEEDs that no insects will eat them. I pick some of them(weeds), chop them up and sprinkle around where I want, HOPING(!) the it will repel the insects?!?!? Maybe another myth or wishful thinking but then there is nothing to loose, weeds are free and plentiful.
