Its been our experience that any gourds that set on after the first of August won't grow big enough to mature properly. Our gourd vines on the ground are suffering from the heat and are showing signs of shutting down now. They certainly won't support any new gourds. However, the vines on trellis fence are doing much better, and could probably support new gourds for a few more weeks.
