They didn't get pollinated it seems to me.

Some of mine have this too. It's kind of a brown sticky substance. I left mine on the vine and some of them seem to be growing fine. Maybe some one else can help. Theresa.

I think this may have been the remanants of the flowers. I have picked mine already and it grew fine. Man did it grow fast! Theresa.
