I haven't grown those varieties but I am presently growing Miscanthus gracimillis and miscanthus variagatus. I live in the Adirondacks where many days of -50 didn't affect it. It's coming back though I'm not sure about the gracimillus since the lawn guy weed wacked it by acident last week. Oh well, I'll jsut have to wait and see. LOL!

We are currently growing M.s. "Silberfeder", "Silberpfeil", "Malepartus" and quite a few other Miscanthus grasses. Our zone is listed as being 4b-5.

We have not experienced any major issues w/ winter kill from any of our Miscanthus grasses.

In my list of grasses I have M.s. "Bitsy Ben", "Jailbird Ben" and "Morning Light" as being true zone 4 grasses.

As I have noted in other posts any grasses w/ a ".... Ben" or a "Ben ... " connotation indicates that that grass was discovered by Bald Eagle Nursery in Fulton IL.

Bald Eagle Nursery has been bought and renamed as LongÂs Garden and Nursery but they still have over 100 grasses listed as being available.

We are making a road trip to verify the Long's Garden Nursery as being a good place to buy ornamental grasses.

I grow Miscanthus sinensis Rotsilber and Strictus and they both survived 3 continental winters (down to about -20 Celsius). However neither has reached the size enabling it to screen much.. They grew maybe waist-high and were not dense enough for screening. I am very much content with the parthenocissus quinquefolia vine as a screen. The grasses are simply planted in a border in front of the wine.
