it stays on the ground. it's actually one of the best-behaved ground covers I've ever come across, as well as the most adaptable (so far, the only requirement I have found is not to put it at the bottom of a run-off field, which will cause crown rot)

and here it is july, and mine is still blooming!

Bogturtle and Chinacat Sunflower - Thank you for the information. My lamium is inervating itself through the lower branches of inkberry and is standing up along the trunk of a pine tree. So I did not know if it was just going through the inkberry and just supporting itself on the tree or if it would start climbing.

it's just leaning, thankfully- it doesn't have suckers, or aerial roots,or tendrils to cling to things with...it will grow 'through' other plants but it's easy to move, and it takes well to trimming (I've been known to use a shovel to 'push' it out of the way, or trim things that were headed in the 'wrong' direction)
