Hi, Some creeping ground covers that may work there...dianthus 'artic fire' (other colors available)...alba, a hot pink and a red...and several creeping phlox would do. they spread out to about 1 1/2 - 2 feet across and I can lift the mass of it and for the most part is is growing from a central root system...snow in summer is another one but to be honest it looks beautiful when in bloom but ratty afterwards..Other ideas may be rock soap wart or thyme's.

I find my Delosperma used in this role does not cover adequately for my purposes. In this role, I use prostrate Rosmarianus, Potentilla neumanniana, and Fragaria chiloensis. While I have not tried this, what about Ficus pumila?
