What is the question? By the way Butternut is a C. moschata not a C. maxima. Did you mean Buttercup?

The package definitely reads Butternut.

I guess I want to know if it's edible or do I just make Halloween decorations or......what???

Both, it is edible and decorative. I always have a few laying around with my fall decorations and then use them in pies or other dishes throughout the rest of of the year (I still currently have some from last fall). The best pumpkin pies are actually made with butternuts or other neck pumpkins and not the standard orange pumpkin.

Thanks to all. I agree about the typo. But I wonder which way. Do I have a Buttercup or Butternut??? These seeds are about 1/2" long x 1/4 wide, flattish on one side and humped on the other, blondish color (pine 2x4 comes to mind). I guess that next year I may have to plant blindly and hope the container will be large enough to support the plant.
