I really doubt if any ornamental grass will serve your purpose. Any grasses that tall will require more sun, and even then, would only provide a screen for half the year, as they require cutting back to the ground every year, and must regrow to their full height.

I agree w/ Donn, Orn grasses are a very good divider of space but to use grasses as a screen is not applicable.

Donn, is it just me or did I miss the advertisement that orn grasses need to be cut back to allow better growth and appearance their / during the new growing season?

I know, not everybody is tuned into grasses such as your knowledge or experience or even as qualified as my experiences but golly gee - !!!!

Still it is great to see that people are interested in OG to use in their landscapes and as focal points in their landscapes.

I have used Panicum virgatum 'Northwind' on the north side of a house successfully . The amount of sun was two hours of full and two hours filtered . The heighth would be good and maybe some Saccharum arundinaceum behind it for some super heighth . Currently I have a 3 year old division of Sac. aru. that gets just 2 hours of full sun ( the rest of the time it is dense shade )and it looks great , not as good as the others in full sun . You can choose not to cut Sac. aru. back , but I would and with a trailer , chain saw , rope , longsleeves , and two others to help . I have never seen a seedling from this grass and we got it in 98 . Maybe a shrub would be best for year round pleasure in your situation , Daphniphyllum macropodum is cool .

The grass I can recommend for this purpose is bamboo, and there are a number of them that will be evergreen in your Zone. The hardiest bamboos are runners, but there are even clumpers that are hardy down to zero degrees F if you're worried about the bamboo running. If you want more specifics, feel free to email me.
