It definitely doesn't look happy. It should be much further along and much fuller than it is. It may be too much shade. It may also be in too rich and wet a soil. It's also getting a lot of competition from weeds.

Are all or most of the growing blades on the exterior of the clump? If so, the center may have died, and it will need to be divided.

I cut out the center and replanted in sunny spot with no other plants to compete. Do you think this has a chance to rebound?
