I have 2 different varieties of pumpkin I am grown- Howden and New England Pie. As some of you know from a previous post from me, asking for help, I was combating a combination of Squash Bugs and Root Borers about 2 weeks ago. Thank you for all of your help, it is truly appreciated! I wound up spraying Sevin on the plants, removing the borers and picking off any squash bug eggs by hand. the problem is now resolved. The vines are continuing to grow and although some of the older vines do not look better, the new vines are all a deep green and the plants look much healthier. I�ve noticed though, that over the past few weeks, any female flowers I get simply shrivel and die. I�ve read that this could be due to heat, overwatering and just lack of patience. However, our temperatures in NJ have been in the low 80�s and there has not been much rain, the plants look healthy. Is it possible that the vines are still recovering from being attacked or is there something else going on here? I know that Sevin kills good bugs with the bad, but again, that was sprayed 2 weeks ago, so I doubt that is an issue now. As always thanks for any help!
