I have both P. alopecuroides species and 'Moudry' (Black Flowering) in my garden, and both do fine. I started another couple of dozen each from seed this year. They're rated for zone 6, but I've heard of them over-wintering in 5.

I have Moudry and love it, but didn't know its Latin name. Feeling silly here!

I think it's beautiful and a great accent piece.
I buried the blades and seed stalks under the mulch this spring. So far, nothing's reseeded, but I'll have to think of it next year!

I planted some Moudry fountain grass this spring and it is growing well, but it still not flowering and doesn't appear to be developing heads. Is it later than most ornamental grasses? My Miscanthus and other Pennisetum varieties are already flowering. Otherwise, the Moudry looks fine and has doubled in size.

'Moudry' is supposed to bloom September-November.

I just got one this summer yes, Moudry (named after the guy who introduced it to the USA garden hobby).

suppossed to be late September bloomer. my shows no sign yet.

warning... it is suppossed to self seed very easily, in other words you might get baby grass weeds everywhere in the area

suppossed to be zone 6 just like the other similar varieties like Hameln or , all which do well in zone 5b Central Ohio
