Planting Gourds

I am an artist in North Mississippi. I have fallen in love with painting on gourds and would love to grow a crop myself. I was wondering when is the right time of year to plant gourds? We have a "back lot" behind my mother's that is, I believe, condusive to raising them. I'd appreciate any advice y'all could offer.

Most gourds do well with a late spring/early summer planting. Check with your local extension service to see the dates for your area's plantings.
