Did you pick them after they matured? I know if you leave them on the vine and it get too hot they will start to rot. I always pick mine about a week after they turn orange. I have had some since August as well. I rarely ever have pumpkins rot until they are well over 3 months old. I still have 3 in my house from last year that haven't rotted. After you pick them you should wash off any dirt with soap and water or a mild bleach solution (9 parts water and 1 part bleach).

If they are rotting and you didn't leave them on the vine did you notice any holes or marks on the pumkins when you picked them?

I picked them once the stem turned brown. I did not wash them but I did wipe the dirt from them.

I did not see any holes they looked very decent. I did not know about using bleach I will keep that in mind,

May I ask you, what the seeds you plant and also what type of fertilizer do you use. I dug my holes about amonth before planting and from time to time I filled the hole with organic manure and some 10-10-10 fertilizer.
