I know all the experts on OG's will tell you to cut back ornamental grasses in early spring, but WHY is this? Winter interest is the only reason I can think of, but there are a few grasses in my garden (like Deschampsia goldschleier) that have lost their appeal for me already and it's very unlikely they will become more attractive in the winter, so I'd be glad to cut them back right now. Is there any reason, apart from esthetics, why ornamental grasses should be cut back in early spring and not in autumn?
