Pumpkin problems

This is my first year planting pumpkins and up to this week they have been doing great. Well now some of my flowers are covered with a black fungus/mold and the leaves near where it was planted are dying. How can I stop this? Is my plant a lost cause? The pumpkin is a big max. The vine goes out about 10 feet on each side. About 80% of the plant looks unaffected. Any advice would be much appreciated :)

Hmmm... the only thing I can think of is that you have aphid problems, much like the Delicata Squash I'm currently growing.
Check the bottom sides of the leaves for aphid infestations, you may be surprised as I was how many leaves have aphids. I didn't notice the aphids on my squash until I noticed some of the fruits had a sticky coating on them. When I saw that I knew right away aphids were to blame. In your case, I'm suspecting the sticky aphid secretions are feeding a sooty mold that thrives around aphids. If you don't find any aphids, then I have no idea what it might be.
