Are they gnats?? If so, I doubt they are helpful, and what should I do to get rid of them? This whole process has been frustrating for me!! 4 pumpkin plants, incl a giant, tons of leaves & male flowers, but not a single pumpkin. My soil might be too wet (at least that's what I've read could be causing gnats), so I'll keep it a bit drier, but these gnats are a nuisance (if that's what they are).

I don't know, but I have them too...as well as other pests like ants and aphids. I lifted some leaves this morning to discover white patches on some leaves...I wonder if that is "powdery mildew" and if so, what do I do? There are also leaf miners. I'm just getting all the bugs this year...ugh.
