It may never bloom in your zone. It also may not survive winter. Muhlengergia capillaris is generally considered hardy to zone 6 or 7, with a temperature tolerance to the low teens.

I grow this one here...mine bloomed first year from seed for me. It doesn't bloom until later (usually fall...mine are just getting started to bloom....

They sell it at the local nurseries and garden centers in our area.

We talked earlier about winter protection for this grass.
I live in zone 5b Kansas. Hot summers and some pretty
harsh cold winters.

When I bought this grass, I couldn't remember the zones it
was safe to grow in as a perennial. So took my chances anyway and brought it home.
Really hope I can get it through the winter.
