cutting down miscanthus sinensis malepartus

I have a really nice stand of miscanthus sinensis malepartus for about 4 years now. Unfortunately this fall, a rabbit seems to have set up house in the midst of it. From there it darts out and eats the flowers of my neighbour, and also the grass is starting to get tramped down and looks somewhat unbecoming. My neighbour has asked if I can cut it down for the winter now. I usually do so in the spring.

I don't think it will hurt the plant to cut it down now, but thought that I would pose the question anyway.
