gourd clock

Hey Everybody,

I just bought a little round clock from a clock company. I bought it thinking to make a gourd clock. It is the clock that you insert into a round hole and can take out to set the time or to change batteries. I want to paint or wood burn the gourd then insert the clock. I'm figuring that I may have to find a gourd that has a flat side in order for the clock to fit snug against the surface I haven't decide to whether to use a whole gourd of to cut out a piece like I do to make a Native American mask.I thought I'd ask my fellow gourd lovers & artists if they have ever made one of these and if you might have some ideas and advice. Thanks for all replies.
