Cross pollination
1. C. moschata - Zucchino Rampicante Squash, Greek Sweet Red, Shishigatani , Long of Naples

2. C. pepo - Melonette Jaspee Vendee, Delicata , Honey Boat Delicata, Sweet Dumpling

3. C. maxima - Jarrahdale, Marina Di Chioggia, Pastila Shampan, Golden Hubbard

All squash cross readily with in species. Your C. maxima won't cross with C. pepo or C. moschata, but the four you listed will cross with each other. They are insect pollinated, so distance has to greater than the flight pattern of a bee. The best method should you wish to save seeds is bag blossoms and hand pollinate. You only only have to do the ones that you want for seed. There are a lot of seeds in one fruit.

Thanks allot farmerdilla, Ill try growing all of them this year then! Ill do what you said "bag the blossoms in order to save a few seeds". I wanted to try allot of verities & see witch ones "we" (& our pet chickens) like best so yes Id love to save a few true seeds! Can you be a little more specific on the hand pollinating? I bag a few blossoms before they flower & then where do I get the pollen to use? Dose it come from the SAME plant or do I harvest the pollen from a 2nd plant of the same verity? Thanks again!

Either way, just make sure it comes from the same variety. I bumped up Macmex's thread on hand pollination. Most thorough treatment I have seen anywhere. He is a real expert.
