My friend is looking for a vertical grass that is neat and clumping, but grows no more than 2-2 1/2 feet high, in part sun, part shade. Is there such a thing? It is for USDA zone 4-5 (Southern Ontario). I was wondering about Miscanthus 'Little Kitten', since that is the shortest Miscanthus that I can find. Many other short grasses are sprawlers and/or rhizomatous rather than tidy,vertical growers. Another possibility is Panicum 'Cheyenne Sky'? Any other suggestions??
