Square foot gardening in Houston?

We live in Port Arthur, east of Houston. We are interested in trying Mel's square foot gardening. Does anyone know if the soil mix is sold in the Houston area? I know it would be more expensive to buy the mix than to get the components and mix it ourselves, but recent surgery makes the mixing impossible at this point. Appreciate your help!

While I don't know your specific ailment, mixing shouldn't be much harder than putting down a pre-mixed bag. Just put them down in layers (think lasagna). You'll find the compost and peat moss in any box store. I found a great store in Houston for the vermiculite:
