native ground cover

I need a ground cover to grow over a bed of mulch and dirt where a large popcorn tree was removed next to my house. I had the stump ground.

I would like a native species that is sun tolerant, fast grower and makes a thick blanket. It will be getting light from sw to west.

Any suggestions?
