I looked through my catalogs and didn't find anything listed like that..

The only butterscotch melon that I am familiar with is the hybrid Sweetie. The only time I grew it I got it from Henry Field's. The Cornell site lists Burpee and Johnny's as current vendors.

Johnny's and Burpee no longer carry it. I have contacted dozens of sources looking for it and have had zero luck. If anyone knows of where to find them, I'd be very grateful for the information.

I think "Serenade" from Johnny's is considered to be a butterscotch type, though the flesh is orange. Their little "Sweetie #6" has gone off the market. Growers seem to have had trouble deciding when to pick it, for one thing. I heard it was going to disappear, and bought a big pack of seeds the last year it was available. Send me an E-mail if you can't find another source. The seeds are very tiny. My favorite melon, Early Sugarshaw, also seems to have gone off the market.

Bill from Southern California (see the thread below) loves the Butterscotch melons, and he also convinced me to buy seeds of the larger "Vanilla Ice" from Burpee, though I haven't planted any yet. It's been moved to their "bargain" pages, so I wouldn't dawdle if you want to try it. He also loves Haogen, which has been a very good melon for me.

There are lots of very sweet, pale-fleshed melons coming out now. Maybe you'll have some fun trying to find one like the one you tasted last summer. Among heirlooms, the Galia types may come closest to what you're looking for.

Seeds of Change has Sivan F-1 melons for $11 (I think they give you about a bazillion seeds. Described as a "sweet melon with a hint of butterscotch flavor". However Seed Count has Sivan F-1 melons for $1.95-ish for 40 seeds I believe. Also, Jungs has Little Sweetie Hybrid Muskmelons for around the same price. I ordered from Jungs and Seed Count! Hope this helps!!!! I have never grown either but reading about them made me want them. I have my own space for a garden, finally and reading up on what to get. Thanks for the head up on the melons!
