I've heard that planting heirloom watermelon seeds in mounds work really well. Last year i started some Jubilee Watermelon Seeds in Containers and then transplanted outside and they did just fine. But this year im thinking about planting my heirloom watermelon seeds in a mound or several mounds...the kind of heirloom watermelon seeds i have are Dixie Queen, Sugar Baby, & Crimson Sweet...& also pumpkins. thanks for the help... Jason

I imagine that it would work fine. Do you have sufficient precipitation in your area? Here, where we have much heat and drought, I plant mine in "hills" which are only groups of three plants. But they are not raised. This helps them not to dry out.
