Wow! I dunno what he is but he looks like a cross between an iguana and an anole...however unlikely that might be.

It's a knight anole. They look very exotic but they prob don't belong here. WARNING don't try to pick it up. Someone once told me they bite and hang on.

I agree. It looks like an exotic Knight anole to me. If you google them, you'll get lots of images. They are the largest of the anoles, and probably not a good thing for the environment, though they sure are pretty.

Thanks for the ID. What is it going to do to my environment? If it stays hidden, I can put up with it but I don't relish the thought of having a 20 inch lizard in my yard.

It's actually a Cuban Lizard we have alot here at the zoo. Thay are eating the native anoles.

They eat the native frogs too.

Anoles bite and don't let go but it doesn't hurt.

You won't get bitten by one unless you grab it. They don't run out and attack you or anything. No problem there, right? And it's the overall damage they are doing to the environment, just like Cuban treefrogs, but on a smaller scale. So far. South Florida is so full of exotics, it is really sad. So many beautiful animals that don't belong here are displacing beautiful animals that DO.

I'm not planning on catching one so there is no problem there. DH keeps talking about getting an air pistol so that he can get rid of this one and some of the Bahamian Curly Tails that seem to have taken over our yard. I'm sure the neighbors will love that!
