It's tough. Salt resistant. Has berries... A potential pest, I suspect. It would pay to check with your local conservation department or agricultural advisor.

Hippophae might be ok if you just planted either all girls or all boys to make a hedge.

Rhamnus - a different buckthorn - has pest status on some of our northern offshore islands, hence the offer of a caution.
