I cut all of my hibiscus back this past winter to about 6". They are now about 2ft.-2 1/2ft. high and have buds on most branchs and many flowers. I fertilized them early spring with 10-10-10, and today 16 June with 8-4-8.

I wanted to purne the top 1/3 of some branches back for some shape, but as I mentioned I have buds on most branches.

My question is should I prune those with buds? Does it make a difference? Should I just wait until I find some branches here and there with no buds and trim them?
