Used my Steam Canner for first time!!

My husband bought me this steam canner about a year ago and this is the first time I have used it. It replaces the water bath canner and Wow, I am amazed. He says it only cost around $30 and is so much easier and nicer to use that the old big kettle.

It only uses 8 cups of water as opposed to 4 gallons, so the whole process goes so much quicker. (Think about how long it takes to bring gallons of water to a boil as opposed to cups!) I bought fresh cranberries for my cranberry conserve and I made a triple recipe since the bag of cranberries from Sam's Club was 2 pounds. I figured I could just can all that won't be used for Thanksgiving. This was so easy! I never would have gotten the big canner out for such a small amount of something.

BTW, this conserve is made with orange rind, candied ginger, cinnemon and frozen strawberries and tastes good even to people who don't like cranberry sauce. Plus, cranberrys are so much fun to cook because of the little "pops". Takes very little to entertain me!!
