We bought house in FL couple of years ago and have been doing some work on the outside...we were adding new rock to the existing outlined beds...no flowers but several different type palm trees (existing) and couple of small hibiscus trees we planted earlier this spring...
We decided to get some crushed limestone vs river rock (didn't like color) or marble or granite--more expensive...
We spread it into the front beds yesterday and only last night realized that this type of rock could release lime into the ground...
The guy at the hardscape store we ordered it didn't really ask us questions or offer info--but not blaming him...

Have we shot ourselves in the foot by using this topping on the beds-
we only put in about an inch--just enough to cover whatever rocks or dirt was there...
From some info on line it seems that some palms might do OK with this since it is in rock--not granulated--form and I would think slower to release any lime.
