Rooting for swaps

Since there are a few swaps coming up I am wondering what ya'll are rooting and what is easiest for you? Yes, I know this subject has been discussed a bunch but somebody always comes up with something new:) Easy ones for me this summer have been:

monarda punctata

Lavender firespike

African blue basil

Brugs root so easily that it's like they WANT to propagate that way. And considering that when my frosty pink got knocked down by Hurricane Charley, it rooted all along it's length and turned into a thicket, I suspect that they do.

I got a new batch of coleus and I owe some to both Tony and RoseBud, so those are being rooted now.

But most of what I bring will be dug up, not started from cuttings.

I started some coleus too and they are easy. I hope someone is bringing some of those coleus that take a lot of sun.

Thanks for reminding me about brugs, I have one I need to start rooting. It is yellow/gold.

Pat - when you get here you can take all the coleus cuttings you want. Some of them wilt in the late afternoon sun, but they perk up overnight.

Any body interested in fire bush?

Sure, bring a chunk tomorrow when ya come.

What a great thread. The Supercilious Swap Soiree in Ft. Myers will be my first swap so I was wondering what would be easy and fast to root so I could bring that along too.
    Thanks

Well, coleus are usually a big hit, especially if they are named and unusual. Gingers and heliconias are also very loved. What kinds of things do you have?

Oh, don't share so much that you damage the mommy plant. I lost a few gingers that way, before I learned to not divide them too soon.

Oh Pat, I love the monarda punctata. Maybe if you get to one of the swaps that amber or tony are going to, you could get them to bring me a piece. I don't know what to give you in exchange, so please don't go out of your way. Can I get monarda locally, anyone?

    Cindeea,

Are you coming to the Orlando swap? I will be there or I will be happy to give them to someone who lives close to you and can bring them to you. I don't care about what you exchange, mostly I just want to get rid of my plants and bring a few home:) If someone will deliver them to you I can make you a pot with multiple cuttings. They are such an easy plant to grow. Just lmk.

I would love to try the blue african basil. Which swap are you going to?

    Ariel,

I am going to the Orlando Swap. How 'bout you?

wow, you all are busy already so I started today with potting up chunks of the blue eyed grass, the violet, mimosa, and so on, all the plants that are big enough. I usually wait and see what is wanted before I dig.

Oh Tony, I'm sorry I didn't see your posting before I came over today! I'll start some of the fire bush for you.

Thanks for the mulberry/plumeria/vicks plants and seeds!

ohno, did I miss the Tampa swap? was it today?

    Hi Evelyn,

Nope it wasnt today. Kate and I did a quick mini swap today though, while she just happened to be in the area.

I could use one of everything you have on your pic page but would need someone with talent like you to tell me where they all should go here in the yard. I am kinda successful at growing things, very unsuccessful making it look good. HELP !

    Kate,

thanks for the goodies too. As soon as it cools a bit today I will be out there getting the cuttings to root. The D-fruit is chilling now!

Pat-I won't be able to make Tampa or Orlando swaps (that's why I am having my own...tee hee! Doc says no long drives for me until I get my surgery. Maybe someone from my area will be going to Orlando. I'll keep watching if someone does.

    Zozzl,

I am definately going to the Tampa swap and I am doing my best to make it to the Ft Myers and the Orlando swap.

I'm going to all three. Can you say junkie?
And the next sign of junkie-ism, I bought plants today that I wanted, on the justification that they also divide easily and I can make shares for the trades.

Ambersky, that's been my justification too for getting plants I want, "so I'll have something unusual to trade..." and I'm not even sure I'd be able to make it to a trade any time soon. Like to, don't know when, but I'll have some nice things to trade when I do.

Well of course all those plants we buy are to root for the swaps. We certainly would not buy them for ourselves, would we?
