Last year we had a 20 inch rain deficit in our area. I thought we were headed the same way with an over 5 inch deficit a couple of days ago. We've had two refreshing rainy days now, and my plants are perky and appreciative! My pond and pool are full! Yeah! Put me in the mood to share a couple of pics from my garden. Please post yours too.

Bauhinia galpinii:

clerodendrum paniculatum (pagoda flower):

A native night blooming cactus (non-climbing) that's been blooming- acanthocereus floridanus:

heliconia latispatha red-yellow gyro:

tall pink pentas with button ginger:

some anthurium in my pot:

There seems to be a lot of coral and red everywhere right now.

Aaahhh, thank you, Anna! A return to sanity and the true spirit of gardening! Lovely photos, as always. I would sure like to see your garden and pond one day. You never cease to amaze me with your photos.

Thanks so much for sharing. Unfortunately, nothing is blooming in my yard right now...except BIDENS! URK!!! They are everywhere in the beds that didn't get tended before it got so hot outside. I'm done until cooler weather, so they are just going to have free rein, I reckon!

Wow everthing is always so beautiful in your gardens Anna. I too would love to see your gardens and pond. That cactus is beautiful. I'm going to call the native nursery and see if he has it. Thank you for sharing your pictures.

Every thing is lovely as usual, but I agree with the others that cactus is really something.

Ginny, look how big the red orchid leaves are! lol

the weather's been dreadful here -- TEN INCHES of rain in three days. bugs. WEEDS! and NO SUN. it's hard to conjure the urge to get out into the garden. but here are some quick pics:
brugs love this kind of weather. i've been slowly shaping this guy into a tree. a couple more cuts....

i've really enjoyed these buddleias in pots. they perfum the whole garden and drive the butterflies and hummers crazy:

tuscan sun rose. the blooms start off a striking shade of copper, then fade to a pale, pedestrian pink.

who know alyssum blooms all summer?

mary (gatormomx2) gave me this little cactus. the blooms are much larger than the rest of the plant:

let's see... angelonias doing really well. the trailing torenias are great -- i got a cutting of an orange one with a yellow eye recently. mary gave me some white ruellia that's been a delight. oh, and my sunshine dahlias came back from last year and are putting on a real show.

Anna, I love that cactus! Where did you get it?

Ill, I love that glimpse of your garden. Great pathway and objects d'art (birdbath and trellis). I am impressed at your success with layering in your beds. I always struggle with this, but I think I'm starting to get better. That tuscan rose is heavenly and your brug is amazing. Please show us more glimpses when you have a chance.

Wow, I'm surprised the large cactus got your attention. It was on our property when we moved here 2 1/2 years ago. It took me a long time to ID it. It is huge. Difficult to get perspective from the pic, but it is 10-12 feet tall and at least 20 feet wide. I love it, but no one else that sees it seems to notice it that much. During the day it doesn't flower of course. I have plenty of it and am happy to share, but the pieces are big, long and heavy.

Msmarion, everything is not always good in my garden. I only show what I want to show! If anyone is up my way in Sarasota, please come visit me. I love visitors! Now, wbiyg?

    Awesome pics, you all!
    More things this July...

Those Dahlias finally opened up, although spider mites have basically killed the plant.

I got a potato tree at the USF sale in April, and it has been blooming nonstop for about a month.

My geraniums are doing well in partial shade.

I recently installed a wildflower patch, including Rudbeckia, Echinacea, Indian Blanket, and ... Beach Sunflower:

The Clematis 'Henryi' have come back more vigorously this year. Probably all the rain. They do well with morning sun.

Hybrid Tea 'Mirandy'. Very fragrant :)

    Keep 'em comin...

Jan, is that a crocosmia in your first photo? I saw them in Costa Rica last summer and wondered if they would grow here. That dark flowered hoya with the variegated leaf is just stunning.

Musicman, that Mirandy rose is gorgeous! And that dahlia looks like fireworks.
