I would keep them both medium colors like you have chosen. I agree with Natalie a nice dark gout will give it rich dimension.

I rather like the colors that you have now - the pattern of light, medium and dark colors is pleasing. Have you considered a primarily dark charcoal granite with lots of variation to add 'texture', as Scott suggests ? The other thing that I dont see is any window treatment. That could add lots of interest and a pop of color to the corner that we see in your pic. You might treat it as one continuous window and hang a valance as high as possible with a panel at each end/side or add a continuous molding at ceiling height as a cornice-like piece, behind which you could add additional overhead lighting for your sink area and then roman shades, blinds or shutters with just the end panels - treatment would depend on privacy and other style preferences.
Then perhaps all you would need is the right color paint on the walls. Once you add the other things, you an always add more of a backsplash if needed.

I am afraid to loose the full view of the maple trees which are bright yellow and red in fall from the windows. Left it open because there are no houses on the other side, but maybe a continuous valance is a good idea. Thank you.

I looked up your granite and it is beautiful; but could not find the backsplash. I would not think it would be too light. The granite has a lot of movement which is lovely.

HOw about a color that compliments the floor.
