How saving seeds?

I'm seeing several folks mention saving seeds. However, if you have many varieties of tomatoes for example how do you do it? How are you keeping them from x-pollinating with the other varieties, as well as other similar type plants such as tomatillos?

These plant swaps sound great fun! :-)

I've been saving OP tomato seeds for several years now and have not seen any cross pollinating. It could be there, perhaps recessive and show up in the future but it hasn't been a problem. I'm not selling seeds so don't have to worry about unhappy customers.

I grow about 12 or more different types of OP tomatoes per season.
One of the seeds I started (Marianna's Peace) came up with 2 diff. types of plants. These weren't my seeds, just an SASE from a GardenWebber. Surprise!
One of them turned out to be more resistant to whitefly than any other in the garden.

I second what Denise said, I have no problem saving seeds, unless is a hybrid.

There is no money back guarantee with our seeds. lol.
Actually, I bought Brandy Boy seeds from Burpee, and I thought to include one for each person that I was giving seedlings. From at least 20 seedlings, some were potato leaf and some regular leaf. I kept a couple for me, one of each. I shall see if they are the same fruit.:o)

cool - thanks. So, just pick the best tomatoes from the best producer and dry the seeds?

Also, did you happen to see my offer on a different thread to share some Italian tomato seeds I ran across called Pomodoro Costoluto Fiorentino? I haven't seen them in the US, and have no idea how they'll do, but am willing to send a few seeds from the packet. They sprouted with no problem. Let me know!

TY for the offer but I am in a 12-step program and just say no to more tomato seeds. I have about 80 backlogs in my seed box. Pomodoro sounds really nice but no....no....really...no.

However if YOU want any seeds just say so. Name the name and I'll see if I have it. Name the color, size, etc and I definitely have it. Email with your mailing address.
