Your phlox looks very nice. Someone gave me some bright purple phlox, I think it is Shortwood, it blooms so pretty & so long, but really has a problem with powdery mildew. I can't bring myself to get rid of it. I have a shorter phlox, Laura, that is about the same color, no mildew, but doesn't bloom nearly as well. Pink Melon is really gorgeous, you know I'm a sucker for the clumps. Cherry Cream pie is so pretty with the white streaked midrib.
VT FALL PINK MELON sure looks nice in that clump shot. I think I remember you posting a similar pic of it a week or so ago. The phlox is very pretty too. Casey
Love the clump of Fall Pink Melon. Cherry Cream Pie is a pretty daylily. Phlox looks great. Our neighbors have phlox, pink and white ones, it looks very pretty when they bloom.
Rita, Your phlox is lovely, and I really like Right REgal. Fall Pink Melon is very pretty too. I remember Fall Pink Melon from earlier photos. a good late one is hard to beat. kay
Thanks all. I had had that clump of phlox I took the picture of for a few years. But this spring I planted 6 more new ones along in back of were it is and in back of two rows of daylilies. The phlox is great summer color and I needed something other than daylilies along in there. The new phlox are doing great.
I did post another clump shot of VT FALL PINK MELLON last week I think. Not long ago at any rate. It has been blooming like that with bunches of blooms each day so has really, really looked great this year.
Hey Rita, Love the first shot of the daylily with the sun sprinkling through!! I love the phlox too. I have quite a bit of phlox myself in all different colors and it seems to bloom forever. You can cut those heads back and it will bloom again. Love them! Judy
All very cheerful and pretty pictures, and so welcome now. I love those Olallies. It seems they are sold out of both of those for this season as I don't see them listed. Guess I will have to try earlier next year to snag them. I think you and I would be great garden buddies if we lived closer because I've been moving plants around the past few days just like you and I can't seem to stop making more raised beds. I got rid of some roses that I wasn't in love with anymore so I could have room for some lateblooming daylilies. I keep looking around my gardens to find something to move or eliminate because I am never satisfied, or ever finished. I average 2-3 new raised garden beds (made of native rocks) each summer and I do it all myself. I have a big, burly husband but the only thing I ask him to do is mow the grass....because grass doesn't thrill me. If I had my way, there'd be hardly any grass and no woods in the back....LOL.
I love the VT Fall Pink Melon clump. What a great late bloomer! Your phlox is very nice. Tall phloxes are among my favorite perennials. I used to have seven different kinds, but they all died during our three-year drought. I have three different kinds now, white David. pink Bright Eyes and the purple Laura, which looks a lot like yours. I chose those because they are mildew resistant. Bright Eyes kept blooming all the way to November last year. I'd love to see a photo of your phlox row!
CTC- The Blue Salvia is INDIGO SPIRES which I plant each spring as it dies each winter here. But I just love INDIGO SPIRES.
Nancy, these are all the newer mildew resistant types of phlox and I know I haven't seen any mildew on them yet.
Casey, I did post FALL PINK MELLON clump shots before but it just keeps pumping out those blooms. I can't resist them.
nat and kay, I don't have any white phlox but have lots of eyed ones. One is really pretty cream with a purple star eye. I do love the new phlox I got this year.
Judy, the phlox just keeps blooming forever so I haven't cut it back yet.
Celeste, just try to remember to check Olallies website in the spring before things get picked over. As the year progresses more and more daylilies are no longer listed as they sell out for the year.
They do need some time to establish but once they are clump size they just bloom like crazy.
Debra, the new phlox I think will really look good next year as I mail ordered them this spring and they weren't big plants. One was a local potted buy but of the mail ordered ones, two were potted so not too small. The other three were those bagged dried phlox roots you sometimes see. I had never bought those before and wasn't even sure they would grow at first but they did. Not much bloom but like I said, next year should be really good.
wow,That FALL PINK MELON loves to put out them blooms. Its very pretty with all them blooms open.Them Phlox is very pretty, too,and the Blue Saliva.I think you have a little bit of everything up on that hill.:).I see some red flowers,I am presumeing its roses.
I like the clump of Vt Fall Pink Melon and also Vt Right Regal. Lovely. Do you know what the name of the Phlox is? It's a great color. Mine is nearly over and I'm looking for one that flowers late. Marg
