Variegated pinecone Ginger

I have a patch of pine cone Ginger. All the leaves have always

been totally green. About two years ago I notice that a small

variegated plant emerged. I transplanted the little plant to

another location with hopes that this variegated plant would grow and spread. Last year the plant never came back. I thought that was it, well, yesterday I saw the plant being a

little bigger but not by much. So again I will care for it with hopes that it will grow and spread.

Has anyone of you ever had a plant that gave you a new variegated one? What are your thoughts on this?
