Garden shots

My garden has filled in quite nicely for the new areas I've planted. Am waiting for some roses to get a bit larger and that will fill in more of the empty spaces.

An unknown EE I got from someone in Puerto Rico. Very mannerly...does not run. My Agastache is putting on a show after I cut it back.

A shot of a newly planted bed this year. The crinums have been there for years.

My ground orchid has been blooming like crazy.

Another shot with Colocasia Lime Aid.

A Hibiscus that has been blooming the past few weeks

Tacca Nivea is blooming also.

Passiflora Blue Bouquet. I finally got blooms this year as the caterpillars are late. But they are here now and eating all of my passies.

That's it for now. Thanks for looking.

Tina

    Pretty, pretty, pretty.

Your blue passiflora reminded me to look for my P. caerulea that has disappeared or maybe I planted it somewhere and can't see it now.

And your hibiscus reminds me of one susieq showed last year. Very flashy, all curvy and wavy. Hey bees, look at me!

    Thanks Denise.

You know I had P. caerulea at one time and it never did anything for me. P. Bouquet also seems fragile to me. The size you see in the picture is how it has been for 3 years. It's in a pot....maybe that makes a difference

    Hi
Some ?? for you please?? Noted that you're growing the spathoglottis in a pot I have trouble with all my ground orchids turning black on the edges ,Yours don't seem to have that problem at all lol
Thinking of making a bed for several species of ground orchids but is in fairly dense shade .I thought they needed full sun?? The main plant will be Phaius orchids but if the Spaths will grow why not ?? Thanks gary

Gary, I grow my spathoglotis in the ground. They seem to be a bit fussy about getting the right amount of sun and water. Too much and the leaves turn brown, too little and they don't bloom as well, especially the sun. I kind of gave up worring about the brown leaves. Some times I just cut them off. :o)

Lovely pictures, AG. Your EE's are gorgeous, and I especially like Limelight. My ground orchids froze last year, and didn't come back, so I gave up on them. Yours look great. Maybe I should try them again in a container so I can adjust the light as needed, and bring in if it freezes?

Okay, the bloom on that Tacca thingey is stunning! Why have I never seen this plant before? (Could it be because there are thousands of plants I've yet to learn about??) The foliage looks like something I found in my pot ghetto the other day. Is this some kind of ginger or something? Info, please?

    Thanks for sharing the pictures!

Love your garden!! The hibiscus is so pretty and of course the bat plant is beautiful. How do you keep your crinums looking so nice? Mine get ugly leaves from either rust or insects. Everything looks so nice.

Gary, I had a purple ground orchid in the shade for a couple of years before it finally never came back. It never did bloom either. This time, I paid attention to where the store had the plants and although it looked like full sun they have a light shade cloth over their outside area. So, I planted mine where it gets some afternoon sun, maybe 2-3 hours and it's been fine. It's in well draining soil also. I decided to plant it in a pot for better drainage and so that I can bring it in this winter.

Marcia, there is a black tacca also (as well as others) but the black one is too picky for me. Tacca Nivea, I cover only on very cold nights. I cover it with a couple of big pots and I've never had a problem. I would never be without this plant in my garden. It's not a ginger.....it is in the Aroid family. But it reminds me of a large leaf lily as well.

Ginny, I do absolutely nothing to my crinums. They are in full sun. I always seem to have frogs in them...maybe they take care of any insects that would normally attack it, I'm not sure. I've never noticed any rust issues. Sorry I can't be more help.

    Thanks everyone!!

    Enjoyed the photos

Didn't Fairchild Gardens in Miami have a weekend show featuring their Aroids just this past weekend

    wish I had been there

Thanks Diane. Yes, Fairchild had the Aroid show and sale this past weekend. We didn't go this year and I already regret it. I did go to Tropiflora for my Aroid fix and to Crowley's this weekend though. That made up for it. I bought a rooted cutting of Crowley's Hawaiian Woodrose vine and now I need a structure for the monster. Wish I had taken a picture of hers in bloom......very beautiful and very large.

    Hi
Interesting ,I had MUCH better luck with the black than the white Tacca. actually I had the green but was sold as black lol. Grew for years even had seeds volunteer around the pot! Got a white at the Mounts sale and it just slowly declined . Came back up several times but would soon have the same problem again. I opted for the large full grown which is supposed to be hardier.,didn't even move it from the original pot until I got desperate lol
The white is sooo much harder to find and more expensive than the black, but I may try again.
I got too many projects going with the orchids that I need to straighten out first.
    Thanks for the info gary
